Pong

Yeah, all college students are all too familiar with this game -- same goes for Flip Cup. But what to do if you don’t have a pong table? Take your closet door off the hinges and set it up on some chairs.

Ghost

You only need two or more players. Player 1 starts by saying a letter -- for example, “d.” Player 2 must add another letter, such as “o,” that could form a word. The next player adds another letter, like “d,” giving “dod.”  This continues, with each player adding a letter that could turn into a future word, until the player who is forced to end the word loses the game. In this case, the game could go on to spell “dodging” -- as long as player 5 remembers not to say “e,” which would end the word earlier.

Wikipedia Game

Take turns picking a subject, such as Justin Bieber. Go to any Wikipedia article, using the “random article” link. Using hotlinks within the article linking to other articles, you have five clicks to get to the article about the Bieb.

Poker

Knowing different variations of this game is a college necessity. Whether it’s Texas Hold’em, Five-card Draw or a lesser-known variant, knowing how to play a game of poker is a good way to pass some time and make a few bucks if you’re any good. A deck of cards is a few dollars, and you can use nearly anything as chips. Buttons? Cheetos?

Classic Board Games

Never underestimate the fun of some good ol’ games from your childhood: Battleship, Monopoly, Sorry … the list goes on. Almost everyone knows how to play these games, and they can be found at any toy store. Or next time you’re home, dig your old ones out of the hall closet to take to back to school with you.

Darts

Darts is a simple and cheap game that can be found in most sporting supplies store. To save even more money, make your own board from a cork bought at a craft store. Don’t stand in the line of fire! (Magnetic versions might be safer for your roommates -- and your walls.)

TV Dubbing

Go to a random TV channel and put it on mute. You and your friends each pick a character and improvise your own dialogue and soundtrack.

Never Have I Ever …

This game is played with three or more people. Everyone holds up a predetermined number of fingers. Players go around in turn saying “Never have I ever,” completing the phrase with something they have never done. If any of the other players have done the activity, they put down one of their fingers. Last person with a finger up wins.

Two Truths and a Lie

In this game, players say three things about themselves, two of which are true and one a lie. Other players have to guess which of the “facts” is actually a lie.

Suck and Blow

You’ll need a playing card and a group of players sitting or standing in a close circle. The starting player holds the card to her mouth and sucks in so it sticks to her lips. She leans over and “kisses” the next player with the card by gently blowing as that player sucks the card to his lips. Keep going around the circle, passing the card until it drops. Oops … smooch.
