Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions that Won’t Make College Less Fun
Have more party time!
Schedule two or three blocks of schoolwork time throughout the week. This way, you won’t be playing catch-up when you’re panging to hit the party scene.
Join a ridiculous club.
Or try a sport you’ve never played before. Challenge yourself to find something you never thought you could do. Juggling club, anyone? You might just surprise yourself.
Have an adventure.
Commit to doing something really active one weekend-day a month. Find a high-ropes course. Go skeet-shooting. Take a long hike. Do something out of the ordinary to get you out of your college bubble and refresh your senses.
Get out of the dining-hall rut.
Leave the microwavable burrito in the freezer and try cooking a new cuisine once a week. It’s a relaxing way to unwind after a stressful week -- and a wholesome alternative to binge-drinking.
Learn your professors’ office hours.
They wouldn’t be professors if they weren’t amazing, so take advantage of your tuition dollars and get to know each of them personally.
Take day-trips.
Do you know what you’ll run into if you walk a few miles east of campus? What about west? Get to know and like the culture around your school. You’re there for four years -- might as well see what’s offered.
Use your recycling bin.
Relieve yourself of green-guilt -- and quiet that voice your environmentalist friend uses to scold you each time you toss out something plastic.
Reconnect with old friends.
It’s great that you can see pictures of their recent outings on Facebook, but wouldn’t it be so much better to grab lunch or a cup of coffee with your long-lost pals? These are the days to be social.
Audit a class.
Always been interested in it but can’t quite find the spare credits? Enjoy college for what it represents: education.
Document your life.
Be it with pictures, blogging or an old-fashioned memorabilia box, you’ll want to save the best years of your life to look back on when the next 20 New Year’s holidays approach.

Forget the printer
A well-kept secret of college: You don’t really need a printer. Submit your work electronically or print it in the computer labs found in nearly every building to save space and money.
